Sarracenia flava var. cuprea is a visually striking plant, featuring tall, slim, reddish pitchers and intricately-coppered lids with green rims. As one of our preferred varieties of flava, cuprea stands out with its impressive size, beautiful copper-topped pitchers, and vibrant colour display throughout the seasons.
Sowing instructions:
- Sow on top of growing media, either peat of sphagnum can be used.
- Ensure good airflow too prevent mould growing on the surface of the media.
- Keep pot in bright lights to full sun.
- Once you have sowed the seed place the pot in a zip-lock bag in the fridge for 3 months to simulate winter to ensure best germination results.
- If the pot is ready before spring ensure the pot stays warm (like in the house) through Autumn and Winter to ensure you don't lose your seedling before they establish themselves as plants.
- Keep the pot standing in water at all times so the seed/seedling don't dry out.
- Harvested 2025.
If you need pots or sphagnum you can get them here:
